The Big Layback(Dropping Jewels)

It's been a long time since i've left you..... Almost a year has went by, seen things and people come and go - the music industry is so desolate but the business of music is still very intact! The business of music is easier now ( remember demos....I do) than when I thought I needed a record deal. The internet has the world at your fingertips - just do the research on how you can own ur name and make money off of that - music is secondary. How much music have you made with nothing to show for it???? Even now half of my equipment is broke = no new nuthing but on top of that, I didnt have a computer so I could'nt reach out to cyberspace and keep my pulse on things. The cherry on top was when I lost my site(R.I.P.), I pushed everything that had to do with any machine(MPC 2000XL, etc..) to the side and didnt want to have anything to do with it. Looking bacc on it, I wasnt using the net to work with me as I had before ( I come from the "Era Of Getting Signed"). Instead, I had the web working against my better judgement. The web is like the streets , you can get caught up into anything - good or bad. Its all at your fingertips, you can spend ur days downloading other people's shit when you should be uploading your own and staying focus.

Fashion vs. Clothing Fads

I was wit my lil cuzin a few months bacc in the mall watching him shop. Now bein that im almost 20 years his senior it was like deja vu - but I was the guardian tryin to keep up wit the cool kid(Shout out to my momz lol!). As we went to all the different stores( forever 21, Vans, etc.) and seein him pick the clothes he liked...IT WAS THOSE G23DAMN SKINNY JEANS AND TIGHT A@S SHIRTS!!! "You like these" I'd would asked and man would say Yeah!! "In this color?" (Purple) and he said "Um hum" smilin wit the Flinstone tee to match the jeans. Mind u now when I ask if they had the jeans in his size, the salesman said they come in 2 sizes....small and smaller!LOLOL!! I know sometimes it hurts to be fly but I never wore Hammer pants so I could dance better. I come from da D.M.V. (google it) where you have 2 stay fly - head 2 toe. If everything u had on didnt cost over a hundred(Kickz, Jeans,Shirt Etc.) -thatz been since forever u bammin out!! As a youngin I rocked Locoste, if I bought a navy blue shirt best believe I had the socks 2 match. The official shoe of D.C. are the New Balance's 995, well Timberlands really but hey tomayto - tomato! Both pair uv shoes cost no less than a yard, but the bar is raised real high when it comes da dress code that i came up in. No disrespect to New Yurk but I truly think if it wasnt 4 Sean Combs, who attended Howard University (Howard Ave. Day), NYC would still b wearin brougains(Brown boot wit red string...once again google it!). Now also its not how much it costs but how u can pull it off, I can find a old pair of L.A. Gear Aerobics(Black on Black wit d straps) and turn heads!!! Wit that sayin, u have to know the difference in store and boutique also retailer and warehouse - The 1st place in a mall u look 4 kicks iz Footlocker, last place iz Footstop. I could also hit the Ralph Lauren Section in Macy's but I'd rather go to his stores 4 more selections n a collection!!! I wore Hugo Boss sweatsuits b4 Rocky knocked out that Russian and I still cant come to grips on why u wanna sag pants that are already small with wit ur hi-top Jordan morphed dunks looking too big!!!! We couldve look like Tony Hawk or even The Beastie Boys from 20 years ago but that wasnt cool then and its not cool now........Have some Style! Fucc it pick up da latest mag of G.Q....lolol

ESCAPISM PT.1

My first memory of escapin was hip hop. It always took me away from my state of being and cirucumstance. Music in general(if a record player wuz a ipod - I would ve had one at the age of 3!) has had a big affect in my life and my perspective on life. Music made it easy to explain myself even if I wuz listenin to Too Short(forgive me 4 my sins ladies) to Steely Dan. Headphones also play a big part becuz they are so intimate - dependin if you got a good pair! I could always slip away for hours and close my eyes and imagin Mary J Blige singin "My Life"(The Whole Album frum start 2 finish) just to me. Your even n a greater zone if you got your favorite drink and 4:20 hits the clock- but thats pt.2 and 3!!! If U remember Big Pooh frum Little Brother sayin something along the lines of "Drinkin Peach Schnappes, Gettin his headphones and dosing off 2 Pete Rock", I can remember dissecting his beats thru headphones and understandin the method of filtering and using albums made in stereo (Using the left or right mix of the beat-(Panning)...shhh!). Music helps u prepare ur day, it motivates you even when u r at the lowest, it can spark a riot in otherwords....It can bring CHANGE!!- uz blackfolkz got thru a many day in the fieldz off a song! Swing Down Sweet Chariot Stop And Let Me Ride!!!!!!
